Holistic Healing Co. offers certain services through telehealth or other virtual formats when appropriate and permitted by applicable laws, professional licensing requirements, and scope of practice.
This policy provides general information about virtual care. Additional informed consent, clinical policies, or patient agreements may be required before receiving services.
Eligibility for Virtual Care
Not every service or individual is appropriate for virtual care. Eligibility may depend on factors including your physical location at the time of the appointment, Emily Burger, PA-C's professional licensure, the type of service requested, your individual needs, and applicable state laws.
Scheduling a virtual appointment does not guarantee eligibility for medical care through telehealth.
What to Expect
Virtual appointments may involve secure video, telephone, patient portal, or other approved technology, depending on the service provided.
Patients are responsible for providing accurate information, maintaining an appropriate internet or telephone connection, and participating from a reasonably private environment whenever possible.
For telehealth medical visits, you may be asked to confirm your identity and physical location at the beginning of the appointment.
Limitations of Virtual Care
Telehealth can provide convenient access to care, but it has limitations. A virtual appointment may not provide the same information as an in-person physical examination.
If Emily determines that an in-person examination, diagnostic evaluation, emergency assessment, specialist referral, or another level of care is appropriate, you may be advised to seek additional care.
Privacy
Holistic Healing Co. takes reasonable steps to protect the privacy and confidentiality of virtual care consistent with applicable requirements.
Patients should also take reasonable precautions, such as participating from a private location and using secure personal devices and internet connections when possible.
Technology Issues
Technology can occasionally fail or become unavailable. If a virtual appointment is interrupted, Holistic Healing Co. may attempt to reconnect, use an appropriate alternative communication method, or reschedule the appointment.
Emergencies
Telehealth and virtual services are not a substitute for emergency medical care.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate emergency medical attention.
Do not use virtual appointment requests, email, text messages, social media, or website forms for urgent or emergency medical concerns.
Consent
Patients receiving clinical care through telehealth may be required to review and acknowledge a separate Telehealth Informed Consent before receiving services.
